The Inspiration that feeds my work
Photography

I photograph the flowers that grow here wild and cultivated.
I’m learning their names while compiling reference photos for my floral oil painting series.
Using a macro lens is my favorite way to capture them.

Gardening

I was 26 the first year I planted a garden. I didn’t expect it to change me so drastically but once my hands were in the soil there was no turning back. My connection to nature returned along with my curiosities.
I started down the self sufficient path and as if on cue a stray chicken showed up. The only reasonable thing was to put a roof over her head and find friends.

Ever since that year I’ve tended to a garden and kept a flock of chickens.
Growing my food keeps me grounded and living within the seasons.

Home

I spent most of my feral childhood at the farm down the road. My horse and chicken lived there along with almost every farm animal you can think of. This was my absolute favorite place in the world.
When it came time to find a place of my own a farm was the natural choice.
