A need to deepen my understanding of color drives my work.
I found drawing mandalas to be a meditative break from the planned outcomes of my oil painting commissions. Drawing the structure to create within gave me a place to start on every blank page. I focused on creating contrast and balance while incorporating elements from nature. When the drawings stacked up I decided to start painting them.
After painting a series in 2020 I returned to pet portrait commissions for a bit. While I enjoyed memorializing pets I couldn’t unsee the creative possibilities that Mandalas offered me. After a few years switching between the two I’ve stopped taking on new commissions to devote all of my Studio time to drawing and painting Mandalas. October 2024 I had the pleasure of exhibiting my work on the Hidden Studios Art Tour. I’m currently working on a series for the October 2025 Tour.
